Habitat for Humanity of El Paso Announces Future Homeowner Family and Second Lot Donation from Tropicana Homes
January 14, 2026
Habitat for Humanity of El Paso is proud to announce its newest partner family, who will soon be moving into the organization’s newest affordable home. This announcement is another milestone in its mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. The announcement was made alongside exciting news that Tropicana Homes has donated a second residential lot, paving the way for yet another Habitat home to be built in El Paso.
The selected family was selected from a large number of applicants and will begin working alongside the Habitat for Humanity team through financial education, sweat equity hours, and a commitment to long-term homeownership. Their new home represents not just a place to live, but an opportunity for generational stability and a brighter future.
“This moment is what Habitat is all about,” said Peter Moody, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of El Paso. “Welcoming a family into a safe, affordable home is transformational. We are equally grateful to Tropicana Homes for their continued generosity and belief in our mission. Their donation of a second lot brings us one step closer to serving another hardworking family in our community.”
Tropicana Homes’ donation reflects a strong commitment to addressing El Paso’s affordable housing needs. By providing land for future construction, the company is directly supporting Habitat El Paso’s ability to expand its impact and build more homes for families in need.
“Watching a family step into a home of their own is one of the most rewarding things we do,” said Randy Bowling, President and Owner of Tropicana Homes. “We’re so proud of Kimberly Mathis, a Tropicana Properties resident, and her three girls as they take this next step through Habitat for Humanity. Supporting this build and donating an additional lot reflects our commitment to empowering families in El Paso to thrive and grow in our community.”
Habitat for Humanity of El Paso relies on partnerships with local businesses, volunteers, donors, and community leaders to make affordable homeownership possible. With the announcement of this family and the additional lot donation, Habitat El Paso continues to move forward in its commitment to serve more families and build a stronger El Paso.
